The Historic Inn

A true gem among historic oceanside Maine inns, Spruce Point Inn crowns a rise overlooking the sea. This is an authentic Maine inn experience with coastal cottage ambiance, historical character and spectacular views. The interior glows with hardwood floors, a sky blue ceiling, the comfortable library, and two sunny dining rooms. If the Inn’s walls could speak, they’d tell of intriguing individuals and delightful families who have made Spruce Point their summer home over the past century.

Stairs (no elevator) take you to your choice of the cozy, tip-top “Crow’s Nest,” two spacious “officer’s suites” or five traditional rooms. French or sliding glass doors, in seven of the Inn’s rooms, lead to private porches with Adirondack chairs—the perfect spot for contemplating the astounding view across the entrance to Boothbay Harbor, on the ocean.

Recently refreshed in a soothing marine color palette with artwork by well-known local artists, historical resort photography, and air-conditioning, all the Inn’s rooms are equipped with plush-top beds triple-sheeted with crisp linens, LCD flat-screen television, Wi-Fi, refrigerator stocked with Poland Spring waters, and a Keurig coffeemaker with an assortment of Green Mountain coffee and teas.

"Admiral's Quarters" by Seacraft

Perched at the top of our historic inn, Admiral's Quarters by SEACRAFT is a sophisticated suite with one-of-a-kind views of the harbor. Brass light fixtures salvaged from retired vessels and refurbished vintage furniture found here at the resort furnish the suite’s cozy nooks and spacious living spaces.

This oversized suite extends over two-thirds of the top floor of the Main Inn. The master bedroom with king bed, opens to a private deck. The sitting area is accented by a large window offering dramatic views of the approaches to Boothbay Harbor. A separate living room with pull-out sofa and breakfast nook compliment the expansive space. This is the suite for anniversaries, extended-family stays, or a luxurious retreat with plenty of room for entertaining.

Captain's Quarters

Second Floor. 500 square feet. Premier ocean views. How many sea captains marked The Inn as a landmark on their voyages out and back from Boothbay Harbor? On the southwest corner of The Inn, this calm blue guest room recalls them all with its captain’s view of the ocean from windows on two sides. Look out to sea from the King bed and enjoy the comfortable sitting areas.

Room One - Druce

Second Floor. 280 square feet. Premier ocean views. The Druce guestroom is named for John and Charlotte Druce who operated Spruce Point for more than thirty years. Up one flight of stairs from the Inn lobby and down the hall to your left, the pale green walls of the Druce room frame the view of the sea and the sky. Outfitted with a King bed, French doors leading to an open-air deck, and a cozy pine-paneled bath, this is one of the rooms favored by a 1950’s guest who convinced her Philadelphia friends there was no better place to spend the summer.

Room Two - Holland

Second Floor. The Inn’s first family operators, the Hollands, changed what was once a hunting and sport fishing retreat to a tea room in the early 1900s and then offered accommodations on the second floor, which quickly became the most popular and well-known at the Inn.

280 square feet. Premier ocean views. This guestroom is up one flight of stairs from the Inn lobby and the first guestoom on your left, the Holland Room has perhaps one of the best views of Burnt Island Lighthouse. Outfitted with two Queen beds, French doors leading to an open air deck, and a cozy pine-paneled bath this room is an ideal girlfriends’ getaway or classic experience for a small family of four.

Room Four - Marston

Second Floor. 380 square feet. Premier ocean views. Named for the man who built the original “Spruce Point Cottage” as a private hunting retreat in the late 1800s, this guestroom is one of the most spacious on the second floor, furnished with both a King and a cozy sitting area with pull out sofa bed. Perfect for a couple or a small family.

Room Seven - Crow's Nest

Third floor. 200 square feet. Premier ocean views. As the name suggests, this guestroom is found at the very peak of The Inn, on the Third floor, and up a narrow set of stairs. This Queen bedded room will feel large to anyone accustomed to the cabin of a private yacht. While smaller than other rooms, it is one of our most popular, making up for it’s small size in the vast panorama. The Crow’s Nest offers one of the greatest views on the Maine Coast.

Room Eight - Harold

Third Floor. This 275 square foot guest room is named for Mr. Harold who purchased the Inn in 1957 for his daughter and son-in-law, The Druces, to operate. Without Mr. Harold, the storied hospitality of the 1960’s and 1970’s, when the Inn welcomed such guests as the Kennedys, U.S. Senators, and even astronaut John Glenn, might never have been realized. A cozy guestroom at the top of the stairs, this room is furnished with two Queen beds. It does not offer a porch and has a partial ocean view with plenty of light from its gable windows.

Windward Suite

Third Floor. This 375 square foot small suite is one of the most comfortable in The Inn. The master bedroom is furnished with a Queen bed. The cozy bath has a glass walk-in shower and the living room offers space and decor ideal for modest entertaining. Enjoy an enclosed porch – facing west overlooking the harbor. There is a pull out sofa.
